Gents, I'm doing another trip in a few weeks and having to do a bit of driving around by myself on the West coast of USA. Does someone have a GPS that they can lend me (or sell) that I can take and use whilst there? THanks

Buy one over there. Around $80US at Target. Or why not download a US map for yours?

I have a Smart NAVI 3.5 and couldn't find a download...any ideas?

Mac...my swedish panel beater has 2 of them (im pretty sure)...I will ask him if I can borrow one.

Give me a call when you land and I can maybe fedex the bugger up to ya.

Either that, or hire a 2004 and/or up car that allready has built in NAVI.

Matt, my other thought was to buy a cheap one on Ebay and have it sent to the car sellers house and pick it up with the car.

Hi Mac !,

Good idea! I bought a Tom Tom GO920 model from the States and it came fully loaded with US, Europe and Ausssie maps installed on a 4GB card ... really rapt in it!! You really need a GPS in LA!!! (I would offer to lend you mine but I cannot do without it when I visit Melb now .....)

Also a tip ... go on line to every US Mustang parts suppliers you can find and request a catalogue to be sent to the US address you are visiting. When you arrive, you will have heaps of reading and reference material to bring home!

Driving tips

drive your car in 2nd gear at all times

drive as if your on your last lap in the Daytona 500

snap your indicator stalk off and throw that useless item out the window....that just makes those corner light thingies start flashing

Make sure you have somebody to call at all times when driving.....it makes your driving skills improve

be sure to tail gate people in the slow lane even if the other lanes are free

Be sure to tailgate any and ALL cars at high speed...if your on the phone...that helps

Be sure to cut somebody off if there trying to get into your lane and if you see someone that looks like they are going into your lane...speed up andd close the gap.

even if they use their indicator...cut them off.

That pretty well covers driving in Florida...:w

I found some on Ebay for around the $100 mark which have memory cards for both here and the USA... i can use it after i come back then.

Hev, thanks but i scored one on Ebay which gave me USA and AUS cards which i can plug in depending on which country i'm in.. She's sexy and gives me plenty of warning.. they work great and only take me through Whittlesea when I want to go there...;2
