Help please.

There are 7 cars travelling from the Canberra area to the Nationals on the Thursday. The GPS indicates (exclude toll roads) we travel, in part, via the Western Ring Road and Metropolitan Ring Road. Are these roads toll ways?

Just checking to make sure our maps are up to date etc.

Guys be careful on the ring road as it’s full of speed cameras, not only that you can’t speed in an old cars lol. Seriously there are a shit loads of cameras.

... and before you get to the Ring Road ... at Wallan, Kal Kallo and the Craigieburn bypass!!! At least the cameras are on poles and you can see them (unlike the Ring Rd where they are mostly under bridge mounted!. Blood sneaky revenue raisers ...

Thanks for the info guys. We are aware of speed cameras and will keep an eye open. Not that we will be going too fast. Hopefully the GPS will warn us too.

Spider.. yep, the ones on the HUme are actually time over distance as well with plate recognition so it will pay to keep the pace steady.

It will depend on what type of GPS you've got but it is always safer to stay on the limit or a little below just in case. Remeber it is the Easter Period more than likely double demerit points & $$$$$ also we would want everyone to have a safe trip to & from the event.

Speed traps - we are aware that Vic has stringent speed laws and will be staying on the limit. The guys have been warned. The trouble with GPS's is that our maps get outdated and the speed limits on them are not all that accurate so, again we have to be careful.

Spider , it was announced today that Vic police & State gov were reviewing if double dermits could be introduced for Easter or at least Xmas this year.
But as Herman states better to sit just under to be safe.

Yes, those double points can be a BIG deterrent. We have them here and every long weekend you just have to be that much more careful. Then again, we do have some lee way of about 5% (I think it is) which, as I gather, Vic doesn't have. As I understand, the 5% is to allow for tyre wear and speedo inaccuracy which is understandable.

I think you could almost challenge the Vic system in court because there is definitely deterioration in tyres and also in speedo accuracy. Just my opinion. I must admit I am not a speeder in general but, as you know, we all can creep up a little from time to time especially on a long trip (provided you don't have cruise control).
