« on: January 22, 2009, 01:43:32 pm »
Heres my 1965 fastback that has evolved over the past 20 years.
It was originally my wives daily until I tinkered with it until it ran 11s at the drags then it was time to make it go round corners.
Now the car has NZ muscle car running gear abd a half shelby cage. Were not sure about putting a full cage in and bastardizing the car forever.

The engine is a stroked 302 to 327
Ford motorsport block
Lunati steel crank
eagle rods
je pistons
Del west titanium valves
PSI springs
Crane roller cam (640 lift)
Yella terra shaft roller rockers
titanium retainers
Crow push rods
Weaver dry sump pump and moroso tank
Roush water pump
Modified victor Jnr manifold
830 NASCAR holly with 1 inch spacer.
16" k@n air filtere in lowered NASCAR housing
1/2 inch head studs
And heaps of head work

Drive Train
Chrome molly flywheel
Tilton 7.25" tripple plate clutch
Jerico 4 speed
3 inch tail shaft
Tex racing nodular center with 3.45/3.6/3.9 ratios (detroit locker)
Tex racing diff housing with floating axles
1350 universal joints and billet yokes
Fabricated half petrol tank and dry sum tank on right hand side
Red knob large spindle front hubs

Wheels and Brakes
American racing torque thrusts
Hoosier 2 grove radals
Wliwood 4 spot calipers all round with brembo floating rotors 312x32mm
Koni shocks

Last time we took the car to the drags it ran a horrible ET due to still turning the tires in fourth gear but crossed the line at 198km next time we go 200km on the cards

Cheers Geoff

You don't happen to have the exact specs of the American Racing wheels fitted to your car do you ?
They look very much like the original Torque Thrust model which are different to the latest design wheels supplied by Wheelboyz here in QLD.
I am chasing a set of originals for one of my cars.

Boss 429 ! I hate you !!!!   ;-)

Do you know the history of the car ? I remember in the late 70s there was one for sale in a small yard in Moorabbin. I was about 18 or 19 and I remember it well - was a 69 metallic blue and they wanted $16k for back then when a new Commodore was about $6k.

I think that is where my love affair started with them. There and with a friend who had a 70 Grabber Orange Boss 302 in the early 80s.

Your car does not look like it has the original paint. I wonder if t is the same car ?

Cheers,
Frank.

Cheers,
Frank.

Dont know to much detail about the history but im pretty sure that's the car you remember.

The new paint, that's why there's barely any miles on it, its was stuck at the painters since the early eightys to be finished just before christmas last year.

Whats the value of a 429 today?

YOU GUYS ARE IDIOTS!

Its obvious these cars are just rusty parts hulks and be lucky to have even a salvage title and you want to pay how much??

Be realistic will you!

Very sweet looking cars!:( Why dont we have a drooling smiley icon??) My mate in Colombia has just completed a replica of that Boss cause he couldnt afford the real thing.

Honestly the 429 isnt my car, i also have to drool over it. the owner has never even driven it so its all American miles. No rust and a strait body but the only thing i don't like is the colour that its been painted in. Thats getting changed back to original, i guess 20 odd years can change your mind on what colour you like.
