Don't worry about the torque on the pinion seal nut.
Leaking from the pinion seal is a common problem which is easily fixed.
Just remove the nut and apply a thick silicon bead around the pinion. refit the nut and tighten to a firm tension so there is no play in the bearing and I guarantee the leak will be gone!
