Without totally hijacking the thread i can say that I'm still paying the bill at Kostecki's...    The three-link is in and the panel beater has been busy welding up the rear panels.
TODAY:Dropped off the rear wheels for the 'pumping of the guards' and some trimming.Rear quarters should be welded on end of week. Made enquiries for the 6point roll cage...;2

heard from the boys at Odin Auto Parts (peter and company) that woody's pretty good.  also heard from them that he learned his trade from 'Uncle Con the Engine Builder' also in Balcatta.  i'll be talking to both of them.

i have decided to import the major parts myself, and have an experienced shop do any balanging/machining/assembly/break-in and dyno-runs.  Parts i'm importing will include CS Alum block and CS Alum heads, Scat stroker crank rotating assy, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Edelbrock windsor dual-quad intake with 2x450cfm Holleys, Cloyes timing gear and Shelby alum oil-pan and valve covers.

part of my dilemma is warranty.  if i supply the parts i save approx 50% on the cost of the engine, but only labour is warranted by the builder.  if they supply the parts then the cost goes way up but everything is warranted.

Visited Andrew Kostecki and company last friday.  very impressive setup and they do big dollar, big horsepower stuff.  unfortunately when i say Big Dollar, i really mean BIG DOLLAR.

the upside is that they do have heaps of experience in working with CNC machined parts, and they have heaps of experience in aluminium blocks.  both of these appear to be pretty rare.  the downside is $$$s.

Brian, just a thought but call Tony or Frank at Ierace Aotumotive on 9459 1333. Not sure who does their machining but they do assemble and tune, earlier this year they install the latest and greatest engine dyno so they are getting serious. They work on all makes but early Fords are a bit of a passion.
cheers.

I had an engine re-built by them in the early 90's...no compliants....broke the rear extension on the C4 I was running.

Wasnt anything big or special just a crank and rod swap 302 to 351 ($250) and a GT spec cam made like 330hp very basic job.

Got the heads done by them for the stang...........havent put them to use yet or likely to in the near future

Leon at A1 high performance has done a fair bit of work on windsor engines also and has a wealth of knowledge and also one hell of a AU T series:f

Not sure on his prices but helikes to supply parts and make the engine combo to suit what you want not just numbers etc.

I'm with Dave on this one , there is a little bit of a wait with Leon as he alone builds engines and only uses one machine shop & one engine dyno outfit check this out                          http://www.a1hiperformance.com.au/docs/techGuide.php?artNum=69  Leon also does his own port work & flow testing

Submit your article to the editorial team and if deemed appropriate we'll consider publishing it at some future date that fits in with our overall philosophy.:w

But seriously,  that's just the sort of content I would like to put in the magazine, some real life stories from members.;_

Cheers,
Mike

Well let me put it this way !!!! If you get the right people involved it won't be a headache

My engine build although unfinished !!! due to funds !!! has been a breeze BUT it's all about having the right bloke to do the job . I've been in the performance scene for over 8 years and the best engine builder I've ever come across is Daren Wood at HIFLOW ENGINES
