RAM AIR
« on: May 04, 2006, 11:07:54 pm »
I picked up a genuine Autolite RAM AIR filter this week.   Has never been used on a car, just sitting in my mates shed.   He bought it new but sold his car long ago just keeping only this new filter.

From pictures it appears to be off of a 71 Boss Mustang.   The filter itself sits low down in the casing and is offset (about 1"), towards the rear of the unit.   This is not a Shaker air cleaner.   It is also similar to the Boss 429 air cleaner, except offset.

The original sticker is missing 3 numbers and reads as follows:

Autolite Claner No _ _ _ F - 9600 - H.  Element No C8AF - 9601 - H.

One odd thing is that there is no snorkel.   There is a original plate bolted over the snorkel hole.

I would like some advice about what it is and, most importantly, if it will work on my '69 Mach 1 390.   I have a bonnet with the 4 pie cut outs (genuine factory), under the fake air scoop.
