Wedding ribbon on a '66

Hi all,
Seems like a fiddly (maybe a bloody silly) one! .... but I may as well ask rather than not heed some advice.
I am using my car for a friends wedding on Saturday and I was advised to use a "bracket" attached to the grill rather than stretch the ribbon over the front of the hood and around the hood latch. Reason given was that the ribbon would act as sandpaper and rub on the hood paint. Any thoughts/advice/suggestions/opinions .............

I guess this is possible and would depend on the ribbon type among other things but from my experience though it was no problem.

I made up a bracket from coat hanger wire, and mounted it under using the hood latch bolts. it's bent up around the front of the hood, and sticks up just enough to stop the ribbons touching the hood. 5 minute job.

Thanks Nassi and 66ccode,
The groom "to be" just dropped off the ribbon and it is pretty coarse, however there is not much running around to do (only 5 kms or so) so I think I will not use a bracket. Thanks for the replies......
