My 2008 GT500 is Now RHD
« on: August 09, 2008, 08:48:51 pm »
After 5 months my wait is almost over. My new GT500 has just finished being converted to RHD, by Mustang Motorsport, and only waits for the compliance plate to come through before I can take delivery (and see it for the first time in the metal).

Additional work I've had done (so far) includes window tinting, install of invisible car bra, 20" Alcoa's, lowering springs, adjustable panhard, and new UCA.

Thanks Bumblebee :)

I just read up about the September events. I'll do my best to be there.

I like your ride too! I see in your 'mood' that you're getting a Roush 327 - nice. What year?

Very nice Venix you won't be sorry going with the S197 it's a great car. Black on Black is a nice choice, The new Knight Rider car is a KR B/B as well so when it makes it to Oz TV everybody will be very jealous. The only issues I've had with my 2007 GT are some fuel filling problems and the battery tends to go flat if i don't take her for a run every couple of weeks [trickle charger is a good idea] other than that no problems. Good luck with it. cheers.

Bee, that will make for an exhilarating drive!!

Thanks guys :)

You're right JC, it hasn't been a cheap project by any means, but I'm sure it will be all worth it when I finally get to put the pedal to the metal ;2

johnpony, I'm curious about your fuel filling problems, having come across people discussing that before as an issue. Are you able to elaborate on your experience?

That's good value I reckon, I know what it takes to do early cars, and they are no where near as complex as a new one.

Well no one has been able to fix the problem which seems to be that the fuel bowser trigger is sometimes a little fickle and keeps shutting off when you try and fill up even though the tank is empty. It seems to only happen at certian garages, out of the dozen or so different garages i've been to over the last year about 4 or 5 have played up [my local has been no problem at all].
The problem seems to be a design fault with the filler pipe and having two fuel tanks does not help.I've heard of lots of home remedies like filling with the nozzle upside down and letting it breath or parking on a slope. But i suggest that if you find a good local station stick to it, I get arround 600km to the tank and atm ave 11.4L per 100km but you will have the 5.4 so prob not as good economy.
Good Luck

It's been going great!! I'm loving every second of it ;_

I have not one complaint about the car and since I purchased without having seen one in flesh, let alone having driven one, it actually exceeds all expectations I had.

Thanks for asking ;{
