Mods to Auto

Hi all, is there anyone out there who has modified an auto gearbox. So that you can select and hold all 3 gears. At the moment i can select 1st and hold but not second.

Hey Bigfella,

Whay type of Auto, I presume a C4 with a cruise-o-matic.

Got a few options here....

If you are doing under 25 miles/hr and drop to low, this will select and hold 1st gear. Between 25 and 65 miles an hour you drop to low, this will hold 2nd

or

Convert the valve body to a modern C4 gearbox

If you're getting a full recon, of course go for the heavy duty rebuild and if you want to hold the gears go for the manual valve body.Also note if you do have a cruise o matic and want to convert to a select shift valve body you'll have to change the shifter levers.

Thanks guys for the info, i do have a cruise o matic c4. So if you see a tailshaft and gearbox bits on the road you'll know it didn't work  ;{
