1969 Shelby GT500 battery cable query
« on: June 21, 2023, 04:47:59 pm »
Hi all, there are 2 black battery cables running across the top of the battery to the negative terminal on my 69 Shelby GT500. One of these is running down to a bracket on the block near the base. The other is running to a bracket at the base of the shock tower area. Looking at various pics online it appears that only one cable runs from the negative terminal and not two. Does anyone have any info that would help clarify why there are two battery cables connected to the negative terminal running to two grounding points.

Thank you
Mark

There should be one. But the starter needs a good ground connection to the negative so the one to the block is the one that should be there.

But the electrical connection from the block to the chassis is a wire from the back of the block to the firewall behind the passenger-side head.

Ensures that all the other stuff is working - lights, wipers, radio etc

I'm betting that yours in missing -

Black 2002 SVT Cobra - 2003 Terminator Clone (575rwhp/716rwtq - SOLD)
