Disc brakes and Drum Brakes
« on: September 15, 2022, 09:05:58 pm »
Evenings Brains trust,
Just wondering if anyone runs Disc brakes at the front and Drum brakes at the rear on their cars, If so what are the pros and cons and apart from cost what's the difference as opposed to running with all Disc brakes.
Thanks

I changed mine to disc drum as when I got the car it was single reservoir system drum brakes front and rear.
I didn’t drive the car like that but had not so fond memories of 1967 Valiant wagon that had that setup.
Discs are much better in emergency stops than drums.
Discs all around are better if you want to go racing.

I have boosted discs on the front and drums on the rear, with a proportioning valve.

Don't think its worth bothering with discs on the back unless you are doing a whole new rear end as the fronts do the vast majority of the braking.
