Has anyone had experience with scissor lifts like the below linked.
Do you think you would be able to drop a trans with these?

thanks

They are for wheel changes and brake work only.
You wont get the trans out and more than likely injure yourself.
Please don't go down that path.
Peter.

An alternative option could be these QuickJacks - https://www.costco.com.au/Automotive/Car-Accessories/Trolley-Jacks-Axle-Stands/QuickJack-Car-Lift/p/8513217

I can't personally vouch for them, as I have a full clear-floor lift, but I've watched the Goonzquad boys on YouTube use them many times on all sorts of cars (up to SUVs), including changing out full exhaust systems. So a gearbox drop would be just as accessible. See this video as an example https://youtu.be/ryP77VvEYio?t=161

Cheers, Shane

Hey Peter,
What’s wrong with the old way, just get the car up high enough on four car stands.
And then drop the gearbox on your guts and then watch out!
Hopefully have something with wheels there to place it on.
Cheers Phil.

Two for one is good but four for two is better!

Phil - the QuickJacks are really just an expensive improvement on that - and maybe a little safer if the safety latch is used properly :) (less chance of a hit toppling the lot!)

Hey Peter,
My dad made a gearbox jack out of a car scissor jack on a base with four wheels.
The scissor jack had a flat platform on the top.
You can buy similar things on eBay using a garage trolley jacks, they’ve got chains to attach to the gearbox.
But I prefer the old way!
Cheers Phil.

Hey Shane,
The quick jack thingo will only get the car up in the air.
I bought a Mechpro trolley jack at Repco the other day for $119.00 on special.
A great buy, but be careful dropping it for the first time, they should have an orifice to stop you dropping them to quick.
I think god just gave us gut muscles only to get gearboxes out!
Cheers Phil.
