Is RTV on oil pan gasket a personal preference?

I am about to refit my ford racing oil pan and have got a one piece rubber/metal core gasket M-6710-A351 to suit. I am finding differing information on whether RTV should be used. The general seems around the front and rear main seal but what about the rest of the gasket?

Recommended to put RTV where you suggested but otherwise shouldn't need it unless it isn't making proper contact.
Although i like putting a coating of aviation form a gasket no.3 on most gaskets.

When you use a one piece gasket it's recommended not to use any sealent whatsoever. My recommendation is to put a dab of RTV or anything comparable arond the four corners of the sump to be sure. It worked for me for the last 20 years or so.

Just in the corners around the rear main cap, the center of the timing case etc, I also glue the rear cap on to the block so it cant capillary any oil.
