I've had a member send a question through in which hopefully someone in here can give an answer to:
Hi Craig,
This is just a little question but I am hoping you can put me in the right direction.
I had friends from the States visit me over April and they brought me a car cover for my convertible.
It is an indoor cover - designed to keep the dust off, not the rain out.
But it has presented me with a minor issue.
The antenna for the 2018 convertible sits on the top of the driver’s side rear quarter panel.
It is about 12” long, flexible and has screw in fitting.
However, if I put the car under the indoor cover this places the antenna under pressure and it bows.
Ultimately I’m thinking that will lead to the antenna warping.
My temporary solution is to unscrew the antenna before I place the cover over the car.
I have sought a “stumpy” antenna version (which would not warp) from my dealer but without success.
They pointed me to Burson’s - got a $ 20 version of something that would suit (ie: the fitting diameter and thread works) except the antenna sits proud of the female socket on the rear quarter panel.
Are you able to point me to anyone on the club who would guide me in getting a solution?
Ultimately, I suppose I could live with screwing and unscrewing the antenna each time I used the car, but that’s a pain I’d prefer not to have.
Regards,
Paul
