2002 mustang cobra question
« on: March 28, 2018, 02:06:27 pm »
Hi folks I just drove a 2002 Aussie ford RHD cobra mustang v8 convert ,manual . Now the question is under hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear the whole front end shook including the steering wheel very bad .  Normal driving it was fine . If your driven a car with very warped front rotors and put the brakes on it was like that .  Is it a known problem with this model being a convertible ??? .  The car has only 30,000 klms on it and is in great shape as I could not fault the car except that .  Thanks .

I have the same model and have never had the problem you describe, maybe the car has done more miles than is shown.

Ok that's good to know . This one has 33,000 klms on it with books ,service history and is a one owner . The klms look right for the car . It needs to go on a hoist so I can find the problem . A flogged out bush somewhere I would think .

More likely to be rear end bushes although at those KM’s everything should be perfect.
On a hoist more things would be apparent I think.

My 02 convertible at 96000 ks does not have that problem. Although I do not drive it really hard. maybe the steering box has worked a bit loose and the sudden jerk with acceleration makes something move.
Just 2 bobs worth

It was that bad I couldn't work out what or why it was doing it . Drove fine driving at any speed ,it was only one I floored it ,the front end felt like it was going to fall out .  Shake rock and roll

Hey Glenn,

Does the front lift much,

Could be the front geometry has never been set right after the conversion, and never noticed due to not being exercised properly,

Too much to list - mounts bushes, etc
