Johnny HotRod (Lakatos) will be sharing his knowledge of mustangs (and tuning in parcticular) in a series of sessions at the next few club meetings.

John's a american-V8 tuning expert, specialising in Holleys and Weber carburation.  With 25 years in the trade, i can tell you that he's done amazing things for my cars over the last 12 years and now we're lucky enough to have him in Perth for a few months.

He'll be taking us through the topics of carburation (several parts to this one), ignition, exhaust and much more.  He'll be dispelling several myths, and will be available to troubleshoot/diagnose club cars.

all of these sessions will be geared to answer one simple question:  "how can i get the absolute MOST out of my Mustang"?

don't miss it.  we will be making an announcement at this Tuesday's meeting.

I'm missing the old editor already:_

Secretary -  Hey Boss, can I use your dictaphone?
Boss -  Nah, use your finger like everyone else.

Actually it would be a good idea, the only recording device I have is a video camera. I couldn't take notes fast enough to accurately transcribe the session.
Does anyone have a better idea/system.
Brian, would your mate object to being recorded?

Mike.

i'll ask.  don't see why not.  would be OK to load up onto youtube.com methinks as long as the session doesn't exceed 20 mins or so.  waddyareckon?

btw he's an ugly fugger so you better bring some filters and good lighting or something.

If you can get some decent video footage ill volunteer to try and mash up a DVD split in to different chapters/topics with a menu system of some sort?

Unfortunately due to my work roster i'm never able to get to a Tuesday bash (Fly to/from work on the tue evenings).

stuff u-tube :f we might supplement the club funds with a small cost "donation" for a copy of the DVD.... this might assist with magazine costs etc, the club doesn't run itself :_ I wish it did :w

And for all us poor souls over in the East, it would be great if we could also share in this great opportunity.

John will be at tonight's meeting, so whoever comes along will at least be able to chew the fat and meet him.

he's a good bloke.  can talk the leg off a chair but a good (and honest) bloke.   my boys love him (and they're better judges of character than i am).

Folks - the first tech session is this next meeting on the 6th of May.  A lof of what John will be stating will be related to the differences between fuels between AUS and the USA.  This has been the cause of many a tuning headache, as cars that are 'tuned to spec' aren't really tuned at all - as their specs are based on US fuels, not ours.

John proved this theory to me by re-tuning a couple of my cars (which he used as guinea pigs) using a mobile 5-gas analyser.  Jets, Float levels, Air Bleeds, timing etc all needed a tweak - but most importantly was the re-baselining of settings required for our fuels.

The results were impressive - my NOx, HC, CO, CO2 and O2 levels were all now more 'right' than they had ever been.  For an old musclecar, my Mach puts out VERY low emissions with no loss in power or driveability.

The cars now idle smoothly and pull hard when you squeeze on the trigger.  Its amazing what a 5-gas analyser, a good timing light and some commonsense can deliver.

Is there any chance of borrowing this 5 gas analyser?

My Brother in laws Nox emissions are deadly and anything done to reduce these would be great. :w:w:w:w
