Automatic door locking
« on: September 10, 2017, 10:00:31 pm »
Hi all, i have just got my MY17 GT and have a couple of questions i could not find an answer for.
1. Does the Mastang have automatically locking doors when you drive above a set speed? I could only find autounlock in the settings. Had tjis feature on my 08 XR6 and loved it.
2. I have done 800km (in a day and a half) and notice a strange sound/pressure ferling when driving at speeds of between 70kmh to 90kmh. I do not know how to explain it. Seems to be less noticable on rougher  road surfaces so im thinking maybe its just the tyre noise. Has anyone else noticed this?

1st Q , don't think they have that feature on these mustangs .  Not sure what sound your talking about ? . Is yours a auto or manual ? . If an automatic  they drop into 5 th gear very early and labour a bit at those speeds and the motor drones a little .  If it's an auto and does it , flick the down shift paddle once and see if that stops it .

Thanks Glenn, found a video on Ford US site that advises to turn autolock on amd off using the program function. Will try it out tomorrow to see if it works.
Re the 2nd question, yes it is the Auto. I will give your suggestion a try.

Ok a auto  :thumb:  another way is when the noise happens you could drop it back into S by the shifter and see what happens ,that is sports mode and will drop the gear and hold it longer . Not saying that's what your talking about .

Re Q2
I had the same issue.  A strange buffeting noise coming from the passenger windscreen at about 80kph.  It was just a bit distracting for the driver but really annoying for the passenger.  I told the dealer at the 3000 service and he said the windscreen seal sometimes has a small section missing.  Sure enough, mine had a gap of about 10cm.  I booked it in to be fixed and it is good as gold now.  The service manager said they have had a few with the same issue.

Thanks Dave, that sounds like the issue, i just didnt know how to describe it.
I will contact the dealer and have it noted for the 3,000 service.

Hi Dazza,
I have the same issue.Just checked the windscreen and there is a rubber seal on the bottom only. The sides and top have a gap of about 5mm to the body.
Where was the gap on yours?

Hi Kajo,

The issue with mine turned out to be an unballanced tailshaft. After a couple of visits to the dealer they got the right setting for the weight and the noise disappeared.
May be worth a thought.

Hi Kajo
My windscreen seal gap was high up on the A pillar.  They called a windscreen guy in to reseal it.  I believe they use a commonly available product called sikoflex.  I have used it to seal gutters in my house!

Thank you Dazza and Matt.To me it felt as well as possibly an unbalanced tail shaft. I will check it out.

I have tried to set the door locks to auto lock in my 2016 with no luck. I have watched the videos and followed the instructions to no avail. I have tried to do it with a programmed key in the car also using an admin key. Any suggestions??  :tissue:

How about the auto down windows when you unlock the car.
Tried that one the other day but didn’t work.

I brought the car to the dealer for a road test and the mechanic confirmed that it was the drive shaft. They had the same issue before.
A new drive shaft was ordered and put in a week later.
I am happy to report that everything is smooth now. No more vibrations.
Thanks again!
Cheers :smile01:
