Wheel Centres off Magnum 500 rims on 1966 Coupe
« on: August 22, 2017, 05:30:36 pm »
I have had my 1966 GT coupe in for a check up, i went into the shop a couple of days ago. I had an issue with the passenger side ball joint so had it replaced. When the guys were showing me i noticed that the wheel centres on the front rims were not in flush as they were before i took it in. They told me that on one side it didn't have a grease cap hence now why it is not flush to the rim as they tried but it was rubbing on the cap and the other side wont go back on flush now that they have re greased everything in there. I now have gaps on both sides on the front wheels. Th passenger side "right" is on but crooked, Is this common as it looks shit and i am worried that they will fly off when i am driving. Or do i need to buy new ones or something else as once off you cant get the old ones back on.

Hope this makes sense.

Yep that can happen and depends on the bearing grease cap and which magnum 500 centre caps you have . Some caps push on and some have a backing plate . Just give your grease cap a few hits with a Hammer to flatten it out a bit and see what happens .

Yep the grease caps are not the original ones, got the same issue on a car I'm working on. new bearing caps and the centres wont fit.
