Heat in the footwell and transmission
« on: August 21, 2017, 10:24:10 pm »
Hi all,

My 2017 GT (with 250km on it) gets really hot after 30 mins of driving.
Is that normal?
My first inspection is not until 3000km and I'm not sure whether I should wait or take it in.

I only have that issue with the heater on.......

Doesn't sound great though. Have you given your dealers Service Dept a call? They ought to know if that sounds like a problem that needs a look.

Thanks Jason I will give them a call.
It happens more when I'm stuck in traffic.
The drive in this morning wasn't too bad.
It was warm and not hot like before.

I've done 1,050 km in 8 days since I got my GT convertible - no such issue (unless heater on), though 80% of my driving is highway / expressway (i.e. 80-100 kph).

If it's not the heater it has to be those huge catalytic converters the GT 5.0 mustangs run . They are so big I bet they heat everything up round them .

Maybe, but the week I picked mine up I drove it to Adelaide and back the following week and never noticed a heat issue in the foot-well. And that was before I had the Borla 3 inch S-type cat-back installed.

They're just trying to maximise the retro feel of these things, not just the styling cues that hark back to proper Mustangs, but in little touches like this.

That reminds me I need to put a manual tap on my heater hose before summer. Where do you get them?
Always dreamed I'd have one!

Does that also mean they build them to only last 10 years?
Cheers,

Well mine has lasted 51 years so far, and the heated foot well function is still working very well.

Have you tried turning the whole climate system off and see what happens .  Not just the heater or the fan or air con .
