Seized engine, plenty of rust and it's still going for over 100 grand.

If it cost $100k to restore it, then it would be a bargain.

Yep could end up a bargain despite the currency difference and needing a rebuild.

There's a KK (Kar Kraft) built Boss 429 for sale in Victoria at the moment asking $485,000.

I paid $35,000.00 or a nice 100% original 1970 with only 35,000 miles on it around 1990 . Sold it for around $42,000.00 a month later.

Bought a nice maroon one a few years later for $25,000.00 with the engine in pieces and sold it a buyer in australia for around $35,000.00 a month later.

i know one thing if i had 100k to splash on a car that sure wouldnt be it
Its funny how quick kids learn to drive a car, yet fail to understand a lawnmower.

As it turned out 100k wouldn't have been enough anyway
Good pickings for the seller though

While we're on the subject of collectables, I love someone with a sense of humour.

You're right, the seller is pretty funny and so is his starting price.  :lmao:

You're right, there isn't as long as you don't mind paying too much for a car presuming he would even sell it for that price . The math and legalities are simple.

I think I'd rather buy this one if the price doesn't get stupid.
I like the comment that you can just drive it as it is. Here in Oz, the first cop that saw that car would put it straight off the road.

One sold for a little more than that with no engine. Unfinished RHD, no suspension missing half the interuor, shaker etc for $30k about a year ago. That's what they fetch here. It was a SCJ car but otherwise - same deal.

That is a much nicer car, but it's not hit reserve yet and is approaching double the price by the time you get it here.

ummm...that car was a lot cheaper than buying this car then having to buy a body that has no vin on it for $20,000.00 then spending another $25,000.00 to make it all line up and then not be able to drive it because you cant register it . Plus it is nowhere near the same deal since a super cobra jet is worth significantly more money but if you think this car would be a deal at "only" $28,000.00, you should buy it.

ummm..just because the other car has a starting bid of $28,000.00, it does NOT mean that is the reserve price.

It'll be fine because they wont be replacing the body, the new one will just supply the parts to repair the original. I see a "few" replacement panels being welded around the existing VIN and Roberts ya mothers brother, its all good.  :lmao: :bolt:

I think we're talking about different cars. I'm referring to the one I advertised here about 18 months ago, it was wheeled around on a jack as it had no front suspension, no motor, shaker, oil cooler, tach dash, incomplete RHD conversion, half the interior etc etc etc. I know what that sold for (more than the one advertised on ebay with all the rust) and I know what the buyer paid for all the stuff that was missing because I sold it to him. I know of at least one other rusty R-Code available in Australia for more money that this, $28K is a lot of money for a wreck but that's what they fetch in Australia. The other car referred to here (the Black Jade unrestored car) is for sale at $50KUSD. There's a LOT of difference between a car for sale for $50KUSD in the US and a $28KAU car in Australia.

There's no opening bid, and it appears to be a no-reserve auction to me.

In fact, check this one out - $15KUSD in the US, similar condition to the local one and NO DRIVETRAIN! $15KUSD plus shipping and import duty etc is about the same price as the $28K one here, and that HAS a drivetrain.

I a referring to the only car that the ad says it needs a new body.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322497442069?rmvSB=true

I was a big exporter of Mustangs to oz for several years and have been sending cars there for around 30 years, plus I am also a restorer, so there's no much new that anyone can tell me about their value here or there.
