1965 Square Headed Steering Column Bolts
« on: March 21, 2017, 02:36:44 pm »
I hope someone can help me out here as I am in a spot of bother. I have been reconditioning the steering in my ’65 and need a replacement bolt or two.

At the top of the steering column there are two slots where the heads of two square headed bolts slot in. When tightened down they hold the collar (part where the indicator switch is located) firmly to the steering column.

My two year old grandson climbed into the car and was picking through the container I am storing the bits and pieces from the column and he picked up one of these bolts. When I ran over to him he thought I was playing and took off across the garden waving his hands in the air and laughing. When I caught him he didn’t have the bolt in his hand.

I’ve been ringing around all the common parts suppliers in Melbourne but apparently these bolts are no part of any kit.
If anyone has a couple of these bolts that they are willing to part with or has any idea where to get some from I would be very grateful indeed.

Thanks,

John

I was in the middle of browsing the forum while backing up my photo's.

Unfortunately I have a habit of losing/deleting photo's before reassembly.

I just tried Pony Parts in Bendigo but he wasn't able to help. He suggested I could look for wreckers that had XP, XR, XT's as they had the same bolts in their steering column. I will try that tomorrow but those beasts are also getting hard to find these days too
