1998 - 2004 HEAD COOLING MODS
« on: March 02, 2017, 08:27:47 pm »
Hi all, was wondering if any SN95/New Edge Mustang owners have installed the head cooling modifications to their 4.6 2V and 4V DOHC heads? Plenty of reading on the cooling (r lack of) near pistons 7 & 8 where the flow is not enough which causes serious problems if the get hot.

I have attached one of many articles I found.
Question I ask is are the Aussie models rectified when Tickford changed them to right hand drive? Australia being hotter than most states in the USA I thought maybe just maybe, they rectified the problem.

Hard job and needs gearbox out to do one mod and the other mod can be done from the top of the heads at the rear (core plugs removed)

Interested to find out...

I did mine - the one on the rear of the US drivers head.
This one really only applies to the 4V s/c setup, the n/a 4Vs don't need it. You can do it but they don't get as hot as a s/c unit

Hi Jeff, okay. I did read that mainly for S/C setup but recommended for all 2V and DOHC motors. Will monitor then.
Mine has done 150,000 kms now. Would of happened by now you would think. Thanks again mate.
