A really dumb question
« on: March 09, 2008, 08:42:37 pm »
I was reading the N2O instalation manual and it says that it will be only be activated at WOT.

Seeing that my car is manual, I take it that it means when I am racing, every time I change gear the N2O will turn off and when I am at WOT after a gear change it will turn back on even if it is only for a split second that I am on full throttle?

I asked my mate with the XU-1 and he says its on from when he launches and only shuts off when he says so.

Your reasoning is correct.  It is usually activated by a micro switch which is clicked on by full throttle at the carby.  So whenever you back off full throttle the nos will shut off.

I agree, Manuals and N2O are usualy not seen together, for that reason.
You will find it hard to control, especially on a standard rear end, and road tyres.
When you pop the clutch, you would want to use 80% throttle, ensure the clutch is out and gripped, and make sure you have traction, then nail it.
You wouldn't have to do that in a well built auto.

My 418 in mine will be running 200hp thru it, but will be having it split into 2 stages, to feed it in pregressivly.
Depending on the traction available, hopefully I will run 100hp then another 100hp. If traction is an issue, then it will be 75 and 125.

IMHO a built auto will always be quicker than a clutch operated manual, on the strip, street or circuit.
Plus Nitrous is easier!

You must run the nitrous on a micro switch, as there is no metering of it, so it will be providing too much nitrous and fuel at lower load and can nitrous backfire (very bad!). If you watch the Nitrous 10.5 cars in the states, you hear them "boom" the nitrous on the start line, after they purge. Basicly they are turning on the nitrous, at 3000rpm, and you hear the note change, and the revs shoot up a couple thousand RPM, pretty cool, but has to be done right.

Maybe an auto will give me more control as the manual does not allow me two have two hands on the wheel when chaging into third gear and going sideways............looks like its time for powerglide.:(

I wouldn't use a Glide if I were you, unless you had too much power for a C4, or were drag racing exclusively.

See where I go wrong is I don't know how to slow down!
Did I forget to mention I like to use cruise control as well?
PS: where did you get my picture from? I thought I deleted it off the net.
