Upgraded throttle body
« on: December 30, 2016, 11:44:02 am »
Fitted my new BBK PowerPlus series 85mm throttle body today, the difference in throttle response is very noticeable. Previously fitted Magnaflow catback Street Series exhaust & Airaid CAI. That's it for mods, now for the dyno to see if there is a difference in power. Has anyone here had their "off-the-showroom-floor" stock on dyno & what were the results? Unfortunately I didn't do this! I read that another one with similar set-up (different brand exhaust & throttle body) WITH a tune, made 317kw at the wheels!

No I left it connected, easier. The install does delete the ugly expansion chamber. Plugs are supplied to completely delete resonator diaphragm & pipes including firewall plug.

Given you've already changed the throttle body and likely effected your warranty, have a look at a cold air induction and aftermarket tune.

Roush quote a 10hp gain with the standard 85mm aftermarket cold air induction with the exhaust upgrade, which you've already done, with the 105mm cold air induction and aftermarket tune, more horsepower gains are available, this is all easy bolt on stuff.

Steeda do a custom tune and processor, which looks to be an easy upgrade, see links below

This kit works with the Roush upgraded ECU for increase of 25RWHP

...effected (performance YES) or affected (warranty)? In any case, there is no way of knowing without pulling the damn thing apart and measuring it. The control unit is the factory Ford unit, same P/No stamped......I have fitted a CAI (Cold Air Intake) as stated. I purposely chose these 3 mods as they are bolt on, no tune required, BUT more gain with a tune & more importantly, anyone who can use tools can DIY.
I am not a fan of the open plenum CAI, besides being illegal here & with the tune, I've heard they're not suited to the Australian vehicle as we have 98RON, US used 91 or 93 I think. I'd rather put it on a dyno & let the experts sort that part!

US use a different octane rating, 93 is about our 98, 91 our 95.
