spall 2100 cfm fan or factory ford taurus fan and DCC fan controller and it is advisable to run a at least a 60 amp alt and 9 amp is better.

run a brass high flow 180 t stat . milodon makes them and you may also need a high flow water pump . flowkooler is the best buy for the money.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but want to go down the route of fitting a 67 radiator to my 65. Is the below links the only parts I need other than radiator and shround and to trim the radiator support to suit?

Dingo80,
Old Air Products also do a radiator conversion.
http://www.oldairproducts.com/photo_gallery/mustang-1965-griffin-radiator-w-dual-fans/
I have these fans on a Aussie Desert Cooler big radiator conversion in my 66. They work great. My mechanic mate has also just done a 67-68 radiator conversion in his 66.
If you want to check our conversions out before you spend heaps of $$$'s, we are both located in Bunbury. Very easy to get this wrong and blow your money.
Please PM me if interested.
Cheers

I don't really see the need to fit electric fans to these cars, a 6 blade fan and the correct shroud is all you need and also if upgrading to electric fans you may also need to change the alternator to accommodate the higher current draw.

Thanks Colin. I may take you up on that offer when I am heading down south in the next few weeks.

I have found 2 different lower mounts and not sure which is the better one to use. Can anybody shed some light please?

I will probably go down the engine fan path as I have a factory 7 blade sitting there

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but if converting to the later 67 on radiator and mounts, is it the 20" radiator, the 390 one that you use to minimise cutting open the support but getting max cooling?

The 24" big block radiator is the one you'd use.

Yes the 20 inch radiator fits better in the 65/66 . The 24 inch is better again but the support panel has to be opened right up and then you have a battery fitment problem .  Make sure you get the water outlets the right way around for your engine .

I have just bought a 24" alloy radiator and now realise the water pump outlet is on the wrong side.  :ouch:

Its on the right, same side as the bottom radiator outlet, haven't received the new radiator yet but from the pictures it bottom outlet is on the left.

Mine water outlet is on opposite side so that's ok but was hoping the 20" would be ok as I already opened my old radiator support up to fit a big aussie desert coolers one but it was going to make fitting the A/C condenser a nightmare with having to modify the bonnet latch also. So from everything you guys have said here and from what I can find the 20" seems the go and it only means I have to cut the flat rear section that the factory radiator mounts to off?

Is it a 67 390 engine stang the 20" comes from?

By right do you mean driver's side(lhd)?

You could try a falcon AU xr8 bottom hose if the diameter is similar. They had a lower radiator exit that was the other side to the pump outlet. That's what I'm using.

No, if you are sitting in the car the outlet is on the right side. Where do you buy that hose from?

Ah it might not work then. The hose is designed for a passenger side radiator exit and driver side water pump entry(lhd).
The hose slightly curves up towards the water pump, so if you swapped it around it would slightly curve down and may not work.

It's a mackay one off ebay.

I always thought the 390 big block had a 24" radiator. but I could be wrong.

I have installed a 24" core ADC radiator (top tank is actually about 25.5" wide). Original bottom hose on RHS fitted ok given location of the bottom outlet, but had to use a flexible hose for the top. I opened up the hole to leave a curved lip all around to maintain strength in the radiator support. No mods required to the hood latch, so no changes required for A/C condenser install. ADC radiator has side mounts, so I just installed GT Falcon speed nuts and used 4 bolts with spacers to mount radiator. Works fine and looks neat.

So are you running a shroud or not?

Sorry to bring up old thread. I have all the 67 brackets and radiator is on it's way. Just wanted to find out is there a bolt kit for the upper saddle mount where it bolts to the radiator support. From photos on net I think there is 2 needed. Looks like I have to drill the radiator support for these bolts also. Is that correct?

Yes you have to drill 2 holes .  The bolts are the same as the panel bolts just with nuts on the back of them .  Any nut and bolt will do the job really unless you want the original look .

Thanks Glenn. Don't care about original look so will source my own bolts.
