And the "I'll find a project and save money" concept falls apart really fast when you look at prices for real-deal Shelby parts (as a Shelby with Drake stuff is just sacrilege, for even the parts they do make...) The top line repros, such as at Tony Branda, are not cheap.
A complete car needing a decent amount of work, as can be seen on the site linked, brings in near 6 figures US now.
Buy a 60K shell less engine. "some" rust, and some interior, etc bits missing... assuming you can even find one, and the "savings" evaporates really fast. Let alone the time and hassle to fish thru all the fake parts and false claims many sellers make, knowing uneducated buyers often fall for it. A whole learning curve to get "right" parts.
If you're going to "restore" a real "project car" and don't have deep pockets just buy a regular fastback and readily available repro parts and make a clone. Doing one wrong is worse that not doing it at all.
