Mirror pony lights sometimes.
« on: July 30, 2016, 10:27:43 pm »
Hi all again. Why do my mirror lights that project the pony light on the ground not work all the time.  Most of the time they work but some time like now there are not. Both times I have gone to show some one the lights and wtf nothing??

Had the same issue. Discovered if the handbrake was not activated the lights would not work.

Interesting, mine seem to work fine as lights go, but I have a different problem.

The drivers side Pony Puddle light as a light, but over time has lost all of its pony shape - is just looks like a light now. The passenger side still looks like a pony.....

I think the image must come through a printed glass or printed globe and the imaging has come off. I am hoping it is something warranty will take care of.

Yeah they fix it under warranty. It's a common issue evidentially - had mine changed on Thursday last week.

Had ours "fixed" under warranty - from the dealers personal GT.

Drove home - locked it up and the drivers side had a hunchback already.

Hope they are cheap - cause we are going to be replacing them regularly..

Cheers

A question from the ignorant. What exactly is the point of these lights? Are they for show or is there a purpose to them?

They light up the area around the door to let you see any puddles or potholes as you walk up to the car in the dark. The Pony shape - that's the for show bit.

$75 each fitted is the quote Ford price once warranty runs out.

If they have to replace them every four months, the warranty on the replacement part wont have ran out before it needs replacing again......

So they can quote $75 until they are blue in the face.
