You could try transplanting the engine into my 65 mustang. Pretty sure I won't notice the knock  :bolt:

First thing i would do is change the oil and filter and make sure the correct grade oil goes back in it. If it still does it afterwards then investigate further.

:agree: with sms777 . Dump the oil into a oil tray and see how black and thin it is . Check its last oil and filter change date . Do the oil change and filter with the correct oil and see what happens and we hope it's not a big end bearing . How many klm on the clock ?

Yep, do the oil change and check the filter after its out as well.  Cut it open and make sure there are no bearing bits in it or in the oil that comes out.

Check the oil filter has the rubber drain-back valve provision.
Some cheapo filters don't have it and the oil can drain-back into the sump if the motor has been sitting for a while - therefore the oil pressure takes a few moments to get around the motor and pick up any slack. Worth finding out what oil has been used in the past - the wrong viscosity can hurt these motors.

However, they are very robust - my N/A 4.6 took all the abuse I threw at it for 10 years and ran like a swiss clock.

Once you've resolved that issue, then you can buy my 2001/2 SVT Cobra Supercharger setup - look at it as a reward for sorting out this issue...  :burnout:
