Hi,
(question raised here as relevant to the new Mustang and you might know the answer)
Currently looking at a 2012 Falcon FG EcoBoost for my son - about $15.9K with 92,000 kms. Was thinking about whether it was due for a timing belt - if the EcoBoost has a belt?
So I rang the local Ford dealer and spoke to the service department - and he told me 'just a minute while I look it up on the computer'. This should have been my first red flag - how would a Ford service guy not know about current model Falcons?? He then came back and said it had a timing chain. I was surprised.
Then I thought I would look it up on Google - and Wikipedia shows cross sections of EcoBoosts - with a timing belt! (I don't think my son will get it serviced at that dealer if he buys it).
So just checking - does the EcoBoost actually have a timing belt? And if so, any idea on what it will cost for replacement?
Thanks
Shane
