It works......I set cruise control to 60kph, analogue gauge showed 60, digital readout bounced between 56.6 & 57.5 kph, which one is the most accurate? Think I'll use the analogue as it's easier to read & the digital has to be restarted each time you start the engine.
Here's another interesting but maybe useless gadget + other gadgets mention in the owners manual like sun glasses holder etc....
! No longer available

Gave that a go yesterday. Very cool. Not sure I will persist with it, but nice to have.

I have ordered my Mustang, a ruby red GT convertible with nickel wheels for November 2017 (hoping it will be MY18 specification) and have written to Ford - in the form of customer feedback - to suggest a digital speedo as an urgent safety modification.  Should just be a software tweak and present as per my Territory (great car, sad to see them go).

I have driven the convertible twice (both Ecoboost) and found it difficult to 'find' the speed on the analogue dial when there is light and shadow bouncing around the dashboard.  Perhaps I would get used to it and am just used to the display in my Territory, but have seen many comment (UK, US and Australia) about lack of digital speedo.

If Ford responds I'll post their advice.

Regards

Ford did reply on 5 August, thanking me, but not indicating I would get a substantive response.

That lock/unlock feature is identical to my Wife's current model Rav4.

Can you change the colour of the gauges like in the U.S? I've seen them change from white/blue/red/purple/orange/green?

Yes, from memory it's in the vehicle settings. You can also customise three separate colours of your own choice. I usually flick between the ice blue and blue. Can also do the ambient lights as well

When I picked my new GT up last week, I discussed the lack of a digital speedo with the dealer.

Both the sales manager and the service manager advised me that an imminent software update to the Mustangs will add a digital speedo as a standard and permanent screen.

Hopefully it will be there by the time I go for my 3000km/3month checkup. Been assured it will be ready by the time I go for my 1st full service.

Fantastic news.  My GT convertible is due in August so hopefully will be 'factory fit' on delivery.  I am concerned that viewing analogue with the roof off, in sunny conditions, may be a challenge which digital speedo may rectify.

Further, I spoke to my dealer today who is just returned from two weeks in the US with Ford.  He said Ford US had not mentioned it.  He will ask Ford Australia.

Hey Sharkierulz

Any update on digital speedo software upgrade? I guess you would have had 3,000 km service by now?

Still no news from my dealer.

If you're not keen on using the engineering mode, and with little hope of a retrofit digital speedo, there is always the option of something like a Polaris heads up display portable unit. I use one in my 69, tried it in the newbie and it works a treat. Costs about $120, very accurate and easily removed.

Only done 1600 km so far, and still a month out from the 3 months before I can go in for the initial check-up.

Have not heard anything from the dealer on it. I did recently ask him about the Ford Performance parts that are now (supposedly) available to Aussie customers, specifically initially on the GT strut brace the Aussie cars missed out on, and still waiting to hear back.
