Manual trans conversion, Anyone done one?
« on: January 17, 2006, 08:56:15 pm »
Hi there,
I am currently looking into converting a 67 mustang to manual transmission. It's left hand drive and has a 289/C4 setup. I've talked to numerous parts suppliers and mechanics so far with mixed results, I feel like a hot potato sometimes! Obtaining the bits and pieces doesn't seem out of reach but paying someone to do the conversion may be costly if the parts weren't bad enough. Has anyone performed this operation themselves before? Any advice would be warmly welcomed.

What trans are you going with?  I'd be interested as I'm heading down the same road.  Also a '67 :(

Thanks echo for the contact, I'll definately give Mike a call.

So far warmride it looks like a T5 out of an EA falcon may be a viable option, Jeff Dellow has been very helpful with my enquiries so far and says he's willing to talk me through it. He can fabricate a bellhousing that will match the windsor to the T5.

Next step is to find a suitable T5. I'm thinking a reconditioned one would be the safest way to go. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

Cheers everyone
