Wanted to Buy - RHD Convertible 65-68
« on: April 03, 2016, 06:55:13 pm »
I want to buy a 1965-1968 RHD Convertible.  I've looked at a couple of cars over the last few months that have either not been engineered or been far from the condition they was advertised.  I'm a keen buyer that's ready to buy.

I'm looking for something that is in good condition and doesn't need much work.  I'd like a car that has had its original character preserved so no big engines, wild paint jobs or non-period interiors.

Preference is for a car already registered in NSW, but I'm willing to travel for the right car.

Please PM if you know of a car that's available at the moment.

Try Carsales.com.au. There are a few on their site.  If you find one, just make sure you get it checked out by someone knowledgable as they are very prone to rust. Good luck.

Sorry, not trying to hijack the topic (RHD), but have you considered LHD? Very easy to drive and keeps the original look and feel of the car.

Anyway, I'm looking at selling my 65 convertible, factory V8, factory 4-speed manual car, bench seat, original interior colour, however, painted in deep jewel green when restored 15 years ago. Not a perfect car but still very very good. 45K

... so no big engines

So no 390s or 428s?  :smile01:

And +1 on LHD, back when you had to convert I get it, but the reality of driving LHD is about 15 minutes of adaptation.  It is not driving backwards and upside down via mirrors as some seem to make it out to be... and keeps a bit more of the original mystique...

(and that's a vey nice looking 65 you have there...)

My cars are LHD, one is a 4 speed manual, & I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am not Anti RHD but I understand some people are just scared or maybe even incapable of driving LHD, I learnt very quickly and have no issues and my wife and 2 daughters (17 and 22) also have had no issues or fear of driving  LHD vehicles with all being competent.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  I've driven LHD cars in the past and may end up going down that path, but I'd prefer to find a good RHD if I can...

stick to what you want, RHD , not what other people who say they keep their cars LHD "to be original".

because we all know that when the regulations  laxed , they all yelled with glee that they could finally afford a Mustang !
