Torque Box

Hi,

Can anyone advise me where the torque boxes are are on a 67 convertible? I have not come across this term before.

I have an idea it is where the front leaf spring mount is on the rear suspension, is this right?? Has anyone had to replace one?

Is it doable by the average home mechanic or is this really a job for a professional?

Andymac, the torque box is directly behind the front wheels, quite thick metal triangular box goes from the inside of the guard to the floor. (sorry if this confuses).
Get in touch with  http://store.cal-mustang.com/cm_able/index.cfm?&DID=7   California Mustang. They will send a free catalogue and I have found these to be a good suplement to restoation manuals. The diagrams are very good, unlike my descriptions.
Have never fitted one but the parts are available and I understand it is a common repair.

Hi Nassi,

Thanks for the info and the link. I have ordered the catalogue too. The car is currently in strip down stage, a few rusty bits here and there. The catalogue should be a great help in identifying what bits I need. I think there may be a few!!
