My nephew in Queensland wants me to inspect a 1982 XE 2 door coupe that he's interested in buying, but I know bugger all about them.
Apparently Ford commissioned a company to make 5 of them as promotional vehicles and this is one of them.
It's a bit of a project car with some work left to do on it and the seller wants 26K for it.
Does anyone have any knowledge of these cars or what they're worth?

Don't know much about them except they are a funny looking thing  . I think they were v8 fairmonts . I remember a red one and a black one .  26 k hmm  I suppose so they would have to be a collector car . Think they had sun roofs also .

Worthless other than the coolness factor in my humble opinion. Ford also got Hilliers (IIRC) to do the AU Coupes:

 :sick: wow I didn't think they could make the au any uglier.
I had a series 2 XR at least with the twin round lights they looked better

Look kinda like a Fox body Mustang... an uninspired design IMO... as noted with all the rust in the black one a huge task to fix basically every panel....

Possibly a case where rare does not = valuable.

If you wanted a 2 door XE Falcon it would be ok, but no one ever did and they weren't worth much to collect.  Maybe in 100 years?
