Widest tyres all round on a 67fb
« on: February 05, 2016, 01:40:53 pm »
Hey guys,

Ordered new rims for the car, going to be 17x7s on the front and 17x8s on the back.

Right now i'm running 225s all round, my question is what is the widest tyre i can get away with on the back, probably going to keep the 225s on the front though.

I'll put some photo's up when they rims arrive!

Thanks
Nick

What is the back spacing on the 7" and 8" ?  I wanted to put 17x7 on my 69FB but according to the tyre charts it will only take 205x17 on the front, so missed out on a good deal there.

I'm running 17x8 on the front and 17x9 on the back on my 67 coupĂ©.  The fronts are 225 and the rears are 245.  I had to roll the front guards but not the rear.

Going by my car I think you can go to 265 on the back.

I'm thinking 3.5-4in on the 7s and 4.5s on the 8s, but i'll make the final decision when they arrive. This article helped, but according to them you could have gone bigger with the tyres.

Thats sweet lukep6470 as nice as 265 would be i'll probably go with the 255, it's enough of a stagger from the 225! Can't wait for these bad boys to arrive!

Hi, I am currently running'
Front; 225x40x18 on 18x7 inch Foose chromes backspace 4 inches. Lowered 1 inch no problems with clearance.
Rolled guards, and a small trim on lower edges of guards.
Rear; 245x40x18  on 18x8 inch Foose chromes backspace 4.5 inches nil lowering slight rubbing when I experience pretty extreme corkscrew when I enter my driveway. nil other problems with clearance.
Ditto, rear has rolled and trimmed guards.

Having said that, I am replacing the lot with,
Front 215x60x15 on 15x7 American Racing Chrome.
Rear 235x60x15 15x8 American Racing.
I want more cushioning in the front end, hence a softer ride.
40 ratio does not do it for me.
These tyre sizes give me pretty much the same diameters as the 18's .
Cheers.
Here is a handy tyre size calculator to play with.

Hi, I hope your new rims turn up quicker than mine, they are stuck in a dock strike, California.
Cheers,

Im running 215/18s front 245/40/18 on rears on 67 Fb
Car is low front are perfect never rub somehow,
Rear could easily accomodate 265/35/18 with more internal offset. Is abot 2 inches of spsce left between rim and leaf spring side

Thanks for the visual aid Thirsty428, set up looks amazing! Can't wait for these wheels to arrive and show you guys the finished product. I think i'm tending towards 225/45 for the front and 255/40 for the rear, should fill the guards out perfectly! :evilone:

As already mentioned depends on your backspace. I was able to fit 275s on a 18x9.5" with original diff width and leaf springs before i changed to 1inch shortened diff and coilovers, theres plenty of room now. The plan is to go 11" and 305s oneday.

I doubt you'd get 305 without tubbing mate.
Mine are close without tubbing and I have a strong custom made sway bar installed to help with the diff creeping side to side.

A little massaging of the lower inner arch and rolling guards. 295 on 11s are working fine. 305s might be a stretch but worth a try.
