Ah! So that's the price of carbons.  Looks like forged aluminum will be the go after all.

On suspension, have done more research to get the ride I want and it seems Shockworks' coilovers / springs are looking to be what I need.  Doing more research.

Cheers.

My wife’s eco boost daily driver needs new front brake pads at 24,000 km and we are told by the local brake places that ford have none in stock till later in March, might be able to get hold of some in Sydney at a racing brake supplier for $400.  Has anyone else come across this problem? Current plan is to park the car up for a week and send the pads to qld so they can make a template from existing brakes for aftermarket sale.

Where from QFM at Nerang ? . You can't tell me no one has any in stock . Maybe not from a ford dealer but an aftermarket set must be around .

I haven’t been able to make calls in business hours to get involved but previously the brakes place we have been using has been very good.  I don’t know where in qld he was planning to send them, tonight I checked eBay, seems they are available

Mine is still going quite well . Took it back to willow bank drags on Saturday ,30 deg  hot day tho . Best time was a 12.5 and 114 mph ,most likely needs extractors ,hi flo cats and a good exhaust to help it . Slow in 60 foot with stock auto and 3.1 gears ,only 2.0 sixty foot times . Still happy with the car .

Owners of S550 mustangs be careful if you still have Pirelli tyres on . Mine has and they have done 8,000 klms and  and still at 60% tread , but are very slippery in wet and dry . I spun mine out the other day going up a hill at 40 kph and when  it went back a gear it  spun the tyres and put me into a spin . Bad tyres and a good LSD diff and you will loose it . Just a warning people be careful .

Starting to notice the tyres are losing some of the grip they had when newer.
Planted it in second the other day and it squirmed around before gripping.
Used to hookup and go. Bit slippy now there is a little bit of rain too.
Might try taking some air out and drop pressure back to 34psi and see what it’s like.
Have been running 39.

I have been surprised by the lack of grip too, even when new.  Not what I expected from P Zeros.  They are a bit better when they have warmed up.  Maybe that's why Ford added line lock in the US, so you could warm up the tyres before your daily drive.  Traction control is very modest compared with other cars I've owned as well.

The decision will be what to replace them with when the time comes

Just over 22,000 km in 9 months on my Pirellis. Down to 4 mm front and 3mm at rear with slippage becoming more noticeable.  Have ordered Michelin Pilot Sport 4S which I hope will be available around end May so anticipate tyre changeover in June at about 26,000 km.

Have now fitted Steeda progressive springs.  Wanted to do that change ahead of new tyres so I can judge the new tyre performance.

That really surprised me as well.

I have changed all four to Continentals now. They definitely feel better than the P Zero's at start up to me.

Mechanic said rear camber was 2 degrees (that is, top of tyre tipping in). I can't notice it.  I will run about 4,500 between installation of the springs and new tyres (booked for late May) so the mechanic will have some running to perhaps judge consequence of camber change.  Thinking of putting in camber plates at rear but don't want to keep messing with the car.  However, new tyres are expensive so want to get them right to have longest possible life.

Need rear camber kit for GT convertible
« Reply #490 on: June 02, 2018, 07:30:14 am »
Had the Michelin Pilot Sports 4S tyres put on the car yesterday.  Fishtailed out of the tyre dealership - they were a bit waxy!!

They look better on the lowered car and impressed how they protrood out past the wheel rim to protect the wheel.

Still have the camber issue though.  Has anyone used a camber kit (2 -3 degrees) on rear of GT convertible?
