Window regulators

Does anyone know what the difference is between 67 and 68 coupe window regulators.
Reason being , got a mate who's just bought a 68 coupe and one door glass is about 20mm short when fully up. Before everyone screams convertible , have checked that and its been adjusted up as far as it can. Bit of Sherlock , the photo he had when first bought , had a 67 steering wheel fitted. Thinking maybe had a 67 regulator fitted ?

The spline on the winder is different and that's about it AFAIK... had a complete 67 door on a 68 coupe and it worked fine... and have swapped 67 and 68 coupe glass no problem.

If its not going up its possibly the stops on the channel and not the regulator itself as it should scissor up way more than needed.  The scissor/regulator will not limit travel.  Check the roller rail and lower glass channel for binding, check the stops front and rear for correct installation/orientation and adjustment.  Or if the rollers are binding in the channel for some reason, limiting travel.

Have you removed the regulator from the roller channel, or unscrewed the roller channel from the lower glass channel, and verified the regulator is the binding point?

I have also seen after market door window glass being cut shorter than the factory which can also be a reason for your issue.

Never heard that one before.. more "quality" repros!

With the glass all the way up, where does the lower channel sit in relation to the edge of the beltline and weather-strip?  It should be almost parallel to the edge of the door lip.

.
the bottom horizontal frame on the glass should be able to come up between the belt line molding, however, new belt line occasionally prevents this because it is thicker than factory ford.
