Here is a car I would gladly own...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181826222453?forcerRptr=true&item=181826222453&viewitem=&sspagename=

well the body and paint look nice in the photos except that the right side headlight door is bent, but when you look close, the engine compartment is a cheap spray can job.

in the interior, the brake pedal rusty and ugly, the seats lean back like a recliner, the door light switches in the door jamb is rusty, and the dash pad is warped and the steering wheel has at least one 10 mm wide gap, one 5 mm wide gap and one 1 mm wide gap in the wood grain . . i would think that one might want the two most prominent things you see when you sit in the drivers seat to look NEW on a car they are attempting to pass off as restored.  :lmao:

yup, lol.

actually, the other panels line up well and the body does look straight with nice paint, if that is the case, it deserves to be finished and i  would fix the few interior probs, then lower it around 45 mm in the front and 25 mm in the rear and detail the firewalls and hood hinges, install black plug wires and fake autolite battery top etc.

i would also like to get rid of those incredibly stupid looking mustang emblems and rocker moldings . . they just don't match and shows the previous painter/owner was a moron . . get rid of the grill ornaments and install a horse just like shelby.

I totally agree, it is a bit over done but I do have a real soft spot for black cars.

i like black cars to but i would have done it like an orig gt car with red line tires or deleted the stuff i mentioned and made it a true shelby clone, it just seems stupid because it has the stock stuff but but has shelby stripes . . maybe they thought it would appeal to both crowds that way.  :lmao:

did you notice the real car in the corner . . its red.

i wouldnt change that on that particular car because i don't think it will bring more than the parts and labor to convert it, but thats assuming i wouldnt get it cheap enough but even if i did, i don't like chopping up nice orig cars . . you can always easily paint over the stripes but you cant easily reinstall the orig vents.

ferris, lol . . yeah i like all cars but for slow but cool cars, a volvo p1800 is one of the coolest i drove . . also had an austin healy  bj7 which was cool and a few early jags but they weret really all that fun to drive.

never drive a ferrari . . almost bought a 12,000 mile 89 testarossa for only $42,000 at an auction but got out bid

I agree; it's not an easy job and not easy to revert back to original.

It depends on what the owner wants; if the paint scheme is a temporary fad, yeah sure, leave it as is but if I was in the market for a 350H replica I'd be looking at the ones with quarter glass; chances are the owners took into account other finer details.

yes, like preserving the originality with the warped dash, cracked steering wheel and rusty door jamb switch.

For once I agree with Barnett, badge and rocker mould delete.Grille ornament gonski and new badge installed.Definitely must lose those wheels for a set on Magnum 500,s or Torque Thrusts. That would be a starting point, then GT bonnet, sidescoops(functional) and so the build goes on.Overall it looks like a very nice car as is but it is up to the new owner where they want to go with it.

I am jealous because mine is languishing in the garage untouched for the past 8 months.

They are hanging their hat on it being a fastback with pony trim which is supposed to be very rare (who knows) but nothing else is original

i restore cars for a living and i have done several to MCA concours trailered standards . . i also buy and sell cars for a living so i have seen a zillion and can tell a "fluff jib when i see one.

if you read my posts again it might make sense . . if this was a "restored" car, or a "high quality" car, the morons would have spend 4 hours and $400.00 US dollars to to at least replace tje dash and steering wheel.

if this a "nice" car, then why dud they nit do this.

i can make bondo/bog straight as a pane of glass and you can not see it or hidden rust in a photo so as a buyer, one needs to look at these cues and start to ask questions before they push the buy it now on a car that looks like it might be a deal.

the other thing to pay attention to is the fact that the door jamb lite switch has rust . . this suggests to me that this car was done quite a while ago or in a rusty environment like near the gulf coast . . if it was near the gulf coast most of its life, it is most likely a bondo bucket, which would also explain why it is so straight.

and yes, we are bored , plus its fun to pick cars apart . . i actually do it to mine and when there is nothing left to pick on...its finished.

:agree:
I don't think I've ever been to a show and seen a car I couldn't say "Yeah, but I'd like it better if ____."

.. I could write a list as long as my arm of all the things that I want to do to my own car.
It is on the road, it runs well and I take it to some club events when I can, but it's still a long way off being finished!

id love to but they were all so nice, they sold right away, lol, however, the shop restored the pace car below to the level the customer could afford . . there are around 100 flaws in it but that's what he was willing to accept for what he paid . . he spent way more than he originally planed so he had to draw the line somewhere.

........................................................heres the shop with my 68 shelby conv.

.......................................................

this is the magazine article on the pace car after we did it . . yes the hood is high in the rear . . this was readjusted later.

notice the new dash pad and new steering wheel and painted brake pedal.  :lmao:

Not really worth it for $44K and def not with the 30% exchange rate premium that we would be slugged.

Cheers
