My fastback was built New Years eve 1964. No longer own her but Misty went to a good home. Had a lot of 64 parts in her which made it a bit interesting during restoration. I was the second owner .

New Years Eve 1964?. Even before production started on Coupes and Convertibles.
Should not have sold it.
Most websites give 2+2 Production starting in early September 1964.
Managed to ask Bob Fria, the Mustang Historian who owns 100002, a pre production Coupe, during the Mustang Madness show at the Peterson Museum during the 50 Celebrations, if this was correct and he believed it was the 9th September 1964.
Mustangs and Fords Magazine did a poll on finding the earliest 2+2 or Fastback a few years ago and the earliest they could find was the 26th September.
In 1995 I purchased a Fastback from the late Dick Cruise's Widow (The Baker Collection) with the build date 17J, the 17th of September 1964.
I first found the car and met Dick in 1982, but he would not sell it. we then became friends and I must have asked him many times for it over the following thirteen years, but couldn't prise it from him.
On his passing in 1995, his wife said it was mine and that Dick was evently going to give in and let me have it.
Still have it.
Fast forward to December 2013, looking for something to do Mustangs Across America and the 50th Celebrations in Charlotte in 2014, I was put on to a another Fastback in Southern California.
Bought it, did the trip and it now resides in North Queensland,
It's build date 14J, the 14 th of September 1964.
Built three days apart and 18 years between purchases.
Just recently I have found out of a 9J build Fastback, the 9th of September 1964 which is about to be fully restored here in Queensland,
If the production start date is correct, this is a day ONE car.
