Mate you didn't read. My current unit is factory.

the unit you posted is NOT, made by ford, nor is it the CORRECT unit if you want original.

i actually do know EXACTLY what i am talking about and i know you have a stock ford distributor, but again, you seem to know best.

also . . like i previously said, you do not "need" it, your car will run perfectly fine without it.

THIS is the orig style vac can for your car but the nipple fitting is incorrect.

this is how it would look on the car with the FACTORY metal line going to it.

Where it inserts into the distributor

I'm getting told two places now that it's not suited to a 260

Two places now

ok, they are idiots . . period . . you have some serious problems happening because unfortunately you are getting incredibly wrong info unless ford made a completely different distributor for a 260 in australia than they did in the us which i seriously doubt.

if they think they are right then simply tell them to give you the part number of the right one and i will tell you what it fits . . its not that hard . . this isn't rocket science.

.
this is the exact same distributor housing ford put on every single 260 thru 351 w engine from 1965 thru 1980 or there abouts on us builts engines . . the pre 65 distributors were the same except for the addition of a small oiling hole with a spring loaded lid on it . . ALL these distributors used the exact same vacuum advance mounting position.

if yours looks like this, then all the ones i posted and the one in the link you posted will fit properly just as ford designed them to . . there are no other options for a us engine.

this is a complicated question but the simplest answer in your case is that you will likely have a least 10 more hp and ft lbs of torque if you use an adjustable one AND PROPERLY set up your distributor which can be done with the distributor springs i gave you in my original post.

originally you were ADAMANT about getting a noticeable increase in power but you have obviously given up on that idea so their is no point to you getting an adjustable one aside from the fact that if it provides too much advance you will either have to disconnect it or retard your distributor which will loose you even more power but im sure your secret experts will tell you differently.

Just get the bloody basic unit, don't worry about adjustable.

You can figure out any other tweaks later on when you have more control. i.e. out of the engine builders hands.
