The one Mert shows is what you want, it bolts up to the back of the block without the bell housing.

What do you want the stand to do? That one Mert pointed you to is what you want if you want to be able to rotate the whole thing for tear down. If you just want to hold the engine up off the ground and stop it from falling I got these which is the second cheapest solution. Add some castors from Bunnings or somewhere (theses stands are pre drilled for same) and you can move it around easily.

(the cheapest is a few blocks of wood or an old tyre)

Just chuck it on a tire in the back of a ute and tie it down, if you just want to take it to a machine shop.

Ok if detailing engine wouldn't the other type be better? Question as stupid as it sounds how does back of engine go onto stand ?

What Ray said.

I didn't go with that sort of thing because I wanted to set the bell housing and clutch up on the engine before I put it in the car and you can't do that with those trolley stands bolted to the engine through the bell housing mounting holes. If you ended up taking the engine and trans out as a unit and want to put it back in the same way you'll need to consider this.

The cradle uses the engine mount bolt position and 2 bell housing bolts a rotating engine stand which engine builders use utilises  4 bell housing bolts at the back of the block.

You mean the areoflow one I posted up? I'm just trying to get exactly what I need I think engine and trans will come out together at this point then I'm hoping to dismount the trans and out engine on a stand and transport to builders and at same time trans wil be rebuilt at a trans house

That's right. That Aeroflow one and other similar products use at least some of the bellhousing mounting holes on the back of the block so you can't attach the trans to the engine while it is on that trolley. The "legs" I pointed you to were the only thing I could find that enabled me to put the bellhousing on the engine. They use the engine mount holes only.

There are a bunch of photos of engines on these legs here that will give you the idea.

http://www.centuryperformance.com/motofeet-engine-stand-with-casters-for-small-block-ford.html

Notwithstanding what the page is advertising there are a bunch of GM engines shown but the principle is the same. As you can see they allow for the trans to be fitted up to the engine while on the legs.

This is from a US supplier but as per the link I posted earlier they are available from a couple of Sydney suppliers for 30 something bucks.
