Wanted to buy 67-70 GT500 or 68-70 cobrajet
« on: March 05, 2015, 02:16:11 am »
Know it's a long shot but thought I would put it out there.  Have been looking to buy a Shelby GT500 for some time.  Have been through the import thing before and would rather buy in Australia if possible.
Would also consider Mach 1 cobra jet or 68 r code .
If you have one of these cars and you are considering selling PM me.  If you know someone or can point me in the right direction PM me.  Have reasonable budget to buy good quality car.
In WA obviously preferable if car in WA but will travel anywhere in Australia to inspect car.
Thanks

Hi Terry,

It would be worth checking in with the Shelby Owners Club of Australia if you haven't already. Nez, the president is a good bloke and he'll be helpful:

http://shelby.org.au/redirect/home.html

I'd also recommend speaking with Sean at Bosskraft, he's highly experienced and knowledgable, he restores and deals in them as well:

Best of luck.

Make contact with Sean at BossKraft Picton NSW

He is expert in all things Mustangs and has the contacts to find these collectable cars here or in the US.

Hi
Just wanted to thank all who responded to this.  I got some good leads and have a few cars that are possibilities.  Unfortunately none in my home state so have to travel to look which I'm trying to organise.  So not looked at a car yet.  Learnt that good cobra jets and Shelby,s hard to come buy..what's for sale anyway in australia.  Also seems that most prices have gone up in line with exchange rate drop recently which I suppose is fair enough.
.  Also learnt that some dudes don't like buyers asking questions and get annoyed when they are asked to respond to that.  These sellers not from this forum found on web.  Put 100-120k on a Mach 1 and expect someone to snap it up no questions asked not to mention travel from WA to East Coast to look.   Many of these cars have sat on the market mainly due to seller poor attitude IMO.  Just Saying your cars the best around not enough sorry.
So still looking..if you have any cobra jet car would consider including shelby or any leads at all let me know.  Thanks Terry.

Have a look at this site- adultsonlycarshop.com.au & check out the beautiful Grabber Green 1970 Mach 1 428CJ R-Code they have for sale. It is AUD109900.00 & drop dead gorgeous. These people are on the Sunshine Coast Qld & are really great to deal with. Their phone number is 0730738019. If you buy it I will insanely jealous!!!!!

You can actually fly directly into the Sunshine Coast rather than fly to Brisbane & then get a car & drive the hour & a half up there. Steve & Jennifer would pick you up & show you around & even organise transport for the car back to W.A.

Many of these cars have sat on the market mainly due to seller poor attitude IMO.

Mainly because the owners bought their cars when prices were at a peak and are trying to recoup their money; they're waiting for the imaginary 'right buyer'; unfortunately their prices aren't realistic in today's market and they'll have to lower their price if they want their cars to sell.

Hi all

Know this is an old post but still looking to buy.  Have tried all suggestions, Shelby registry, Shermatt, Bosskraft but nothing as yet.  Had some regular contact with a few blokes and learnt a bit so that's been great.  Have appreciated the advice on cars out there for sale.  Seen very little on usual car sites worth mentioning.
I found that many ads that I have responded to I never got any reply so don't know if car is sold or not.  Thought reasonable to ask lots of questions if going to travel from WA to East for example maybe that's the problem don't know.
happy to hear from anyone who who might be thinking of selling car.  Really been looking for Cobra jet 4 speed doesn't have to be concourse but mostly original car.  Would consider Shelby for reasonable price or even other performance Mustang if in good original condition.  Admittedly would be better if in WA but will travel to look if convinced right car.  Thanks again.
