Replacing vinyl roof chrome strip
« on: February 07, 2015, 09:55:58 pm »
Hi, I am about to try and replace the chrome strip at the bottom of the rear pillar on my '66 coupe with a vinyl roof.

Feeling inside the rear pillar there appears to be no retaining nuts. Is this correct or do I need to fix it in place with speed nuts?

Help is appreciated.

Not familiar with the 65-66's, but the 67-68's do use stamped nuts.  It would seen difficult to keep the trim in place by friction....  :thumb:

Hard part to replace as the headliner needs to be pulled back to access the nuts, and is tricky to get back in with no wrinkles...  need to peel up the liner and look as you will need the same, or more, access to replace.... may end up needing to replace the headliner... be careful...

Thanks Mert and Glenn70, figured they would be retained by nuts. Looks like a PO just pushed them through with a bit of glue to hold them in place. Now to find some speed nuts and do it properly.
