Hard to work out ,but from the side where the bracket is on the LHS its about 68 mm on the out side . Mine is a 351w with shaker so just tell me where you want to measure it .  My shaker sits high because I am running a edelbrock RPM intake .

There are different sizes see below  article
Hood Scoop Base do you have?

The highly desirable Shaker option was available on Mustangs for only two years, 1969 and 1970. BOSS 302 Mustangs had the Shaker available only in 1970. Shakers were available for the following engines, 351W, 351C, 390HP, 428 Cobra Jet, and the BOSS 302. Mustangs that came with the Shaker option used the same hoods. The difference in dimension and location was "adjusted" by using different Shaker bases for the different engines, locating the scoop in the same location in relation to the hood.

Descriptions for the various Shaker bases are as follows:

428: A 428 Shaker base is 18.83" in diameter and 5.50" tall. It has 3 "L" brackets welded to the outside edge with a stud sticking up from each bracket that the Shaker intermediate plate attaches to. Click here for a picture.

390HP: A 390 Shaker base is 18.83" in diameter and 5.82" tall. The Ford service part number is C9OZ-9600-J and the casting number is C9ZF-9600-J.

351C: A 351C Shaker base is 18.83" in diameter and 6.25" tall. It has a lip that runs around the entire base and has 3 studs sticking up from the lid. The 351C has a provision for a breather filter to attach to the inside of the air cleaner base. A hose runs from this breather to the oil cap.

351W: A 351W Shaker base is 18.83" in diameter and 6.14" tall. It has a lip that runs around the entire base and has 3 studs sticking up from the lid. The 351W has a metal or plastic elbow sticking out the front of the air cleaner base. A hose runs from this breather to the oil cap. Click here for a picture.

BOSS 302: A BOSS 302 Shaker base is 18.83" in diameter and 5.50" tall. It has a lip that sticks out the front edge about 1 1/4" and tapers down to no lip on the sides. The BOSS 302 has a plastic elbow sticking out the front of the air cleaner base. A hose runs from this breather to the oil cap. Click here for a picture.

The Shaker hood scoop is adjustable by three pan head screws that attach the scoop to the intermediate plate. This will allow adjustment of the scoop. Note that other Shaker bases will work (although not as well) on the BOSS 302. A 351W Shaker assembly and an assembly from a Torino will work on the BOSS 302.

That's a great article

I bought one to suit my 351 w. But it sits too low  about 15mm. I already run a 1" spacer under the caribe . Looking at suppliers website it says BB SHAKER  is lower than small block so I'm wondering if I have a bb one

ok ive looked at a few pics and it seem shaker heights are all over the place. I could be a bit too pedantic its only 9mm will just leave it and see how it goes

Yup, it's a great article, but it's wrong. Here's a link to the article on the Boss302 website.
http://www.boss302.com/shaker.htm

I have a bunch of shaker bases here, and I just measured a 428CJ base which is 75mm tall from top to bottom - I make that bang-on 3 inches. I believe a 351W base is very similar to a B2 base (has a lip) but not quite the same.

Here's a pic of a 351W base (apparently)

Well, OP - post a couple of pics of your shaker base from on-top and side on, and we'll see what you have. It wouldn't be the first 351 car I've seen with the wrong shaker components.

Hi all , are all the bases offset? I have a metal air filter base that I was hoping to modify to suit the intermediate plate, already have the metal top, rubber and base .

They typically all have different heights and offsets - 428CJ has no offset (lip around the top that moves the mid-plate forward or back) and I think all the others have an off-set. The B302/428CJ/351W bases all have a snorkel that bolts on, the 351C base has a welded on snorkel:

this would be the easy one to make if you have a air cleaner base already
