In Vic, vehicles under 4500kg cost $757.70 to register in metro areas and $706.00 in non metro areas. This includes the TAC charge (CTP) and duty. My 2lt MX5, 2.5lt Subaru Forester and 351 Mach 1 are all charged the same, that is, $706.

You're talking full rego then.
$826.90 for a Falcon 6 cyl incl CTP for 12 months, so cheaper than a V8.

$185.70 concessional rego for my Mustang with V8.
Do other states have concessional rego for older cars or only Qld?

67FBGT ,all states do .  So in QLD we get charged for a 4cyl then a 6cyl then an 8 cyl and a 12 cyl is the same as a v8 . I think chicken cookers are same as a 4 cyl . So how much for a falcon v8 in NSW . Yes I am talking full rego .

Yes, in Vic they are about the $750 mark in inner metro Melb and cheaper out in the country.  Its like that because of the amount of serious collisions that are covered by TAC.  We don't do too bad compared to other states and TAC do a lot to try and keep the collisions down.  Less serious injuries and death would mean cheaper rego's..

So how much for a falcon v8 in NSW

Engine capacity has no bearing on rego costs in NSW. It goes on vehicle weight.

It will cost us between $1300 to $1400 in nsw just did my van and that was $1450

Wow! You must have got screwed on the CTP, is that what drove it up?

I registered my 1840kg 76 F100 with 390 for its first time in Aus last week and rego was $527 plus $361.62 for CTP. Rego will be less next year as it wont have the establishment fees and etc.

The NT goes by engine capacity too.

My 302 mustang cost $873 for full rego and my 3L 4x4 Triton costs $720.

NSW is the only state that requires yearly inspection and it's the most expensive state to register your car. Club rego on the other hand only costs about $80 a year. It is very restrictive though.

Utes are more expensive now Glen because everyone keeps crashing them, you pay an extra 80-100 for a V8 ute, back in the day my Grandfather always drove a ute because they were cheaper rego due the fact they only had a front seat.

Shaun I don't think that's right ,use to be like that but its on how many cyl ,4,6 or 8 . I believe it's just over $1,000 for all V8s .  If its registered as a commercial vehicle it maybe dearer .  Ctp insurance seems to be about the same in most states around $335 .

just wondering how the guys in qld are getting the 180ish yearly rego,  just regod mine under club rego for the year and was $460ish.

now ive looked into why the price difference and it was all in the ctp cost.  i kept my ctp the same but if i changed it to 'vintage'  the ctp would have been $53 insted of $300ish but was told vintage could only be selected if the car was made in 1930 or before??
