F truck
« on: September 12, 2014, 07:29:50 pm »
I'm looking around for another F-truck for myself. I prefer a dual cab or an extended cab but seeing as I am struggling to find anything suitable, I'm considering a 65/66 F100. I'm not looking at anything late as they are stupidly over priced.

I have my eye on all the online places but if anyone knows of something that may be of interest, let me know  :thumb:

You'd fit a few of those in the back of one of them. I did say to the wife we could use the box trailer...she didn't like that idea  :lmao:

It's a 79 F350 4x4. Has a 429 with alloy heads and so on and a C6 with Gear Vendors overdrive. She needs a boat ticket so it'll take a few months to get here.

I should be able to jump up. Going to be pretty funny watching the wife jump in and out, she's a shorty. Might have to get her some of those fold away caravan steps

Looks like a nice truck Ash, was it more cost effective buying it out of the USA, they love there trucks over there, so I would assume they are cheaper.

I knew a guy that bought an F250 with a 390 in it, totally rust free, dead straight, excellent paint, present very well, for $3500, it was a 69 model, the camper version so it had the long wheel base.

There are a few around here in Aus. I really wanted something with a second row of seats but I either couldn't find one or couldn't afford it. What got me on this one was the big block with the bolt on parts, the 4x4, the Gear Vendors overdrive, A/C set-up for R134A and it is set-up to tow both standard hitch and 5th wheel.

The few decent ones, mostly 2x4, in Aus were all in the mid teens. Anything under 10k pretty much needs something or a lot of things. Your mates one for $3500 is a deadset bargain. This being a big block 4x4 would be at a guess around the 20k mark here. If you can find one. This wont owe me that but it'll be in the higher teens by the time it is here.

There are lots to chose from over there. They really do love them. And I like the left hook idea over a right hook. It was one thing I struggled with in my last F150 with it being a RHD, I can't hear on my left side so could never hear anyone in the cab as they aren't quiet trucks.

I've still got all the fun of the importing process ahead of me. Lots of worry and sleepless nights coming up!

Well... the worry got the better of me and I pulled out of the sale. The seller wasn't following through with things when he said he would so I didn't feel comfortable in sending him the balance.

Which worked out well as yesterday I returned home with this. Flew up on Saturday morning and drove it the 900km's back home yesterday. Absolutely loved it, she cruises absolutely beautifully.

She is a 76 F100 with a 390 and C6 that had done 97k. Has power steer and air plus a 9 inch.

Definitely worth the flight. Was a blast to drive home. The 390 is very smooth. It's a big lounge chair on wheels that will move a house  :burnout:

Cheers, ND.  :thumb:

I tallied up my receipts and I used about $230 of 98 octane in the 900km's. That was including a fair bit of driving around brisbane, getting lost many times and heading in the wrong direction several times too. Also found myself quite a few times getting a little excited on the freeway. I think that is quite reasonable for a 3 speed 6.4 litre doing that kind of driving.

Its funny how quick kids learn to drive a car, yet fail to understand a lawnmower.
