Qld Motorsport Petition
« on: August 04, 2014, 04:03:33 pm »
https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/apps/Epetitions_QLD/CurrentEPetition.aspx?PetNum=2261&lIndex=-1 Putting this out there, its a petition to Qld parliment to "Save Queensland's motor sporting venues from severe restrictions or forced closure"The idea is to stop whinging ****wits from moving next to racetracks & then bleating about the noise. Its for Qld residents only. I know this rules out a lot of us (not me) but the more support it gets the better.

From NSW so cant help but good luck with it. You may need to update the link as it doesn't seem to work though.

For me, what you said is a bit like moving next to a school and complaining about the traffic at 3pm, or moving next to an airport then asking for a change in flight paths.
I'm new to this...

Yep, the same thing happened to us down in Vic.  As the city grows and the land further out becomes more attractive at a cheaper price, people buy and then whinge that they can hear race cars on the weekends.  Happened at Sandown and Calder, what's next...  the Island ??

Same happened in Sydney at Amaroo and Oran parks. Warwick farm closed for safety reasons.

It' like people who buy next to a park and then complain when the kids play there. We had a similiar thing when I was Ski Racing. Been racing in the same spot for 30 years and then someone moved in about a k away and complained about the noise which was once a month and about 7 times a year
If somethings already there it's up to you to check out what goes on in the area you're buying into.

It happened to the surfers paradise international raceway in about 1983  for drag racing and about 87 for all other motor sport .Then there was operation drag for a few years 1/8 mile dash. Not so much about the houses that were near it ,but the new bloody golf corse they built next door ,it was putting them off there balls lol . Anyway I have been Told  not to sign that petition because if they don't close willow bank they won't build the new track at Jacobs well / norwell which is between Brisbane and the Gold Coast .So I'm not to sure about this .

Regardless of what happens with Willowbank , I don't think it will have any effect on IMET , This has been in the planning for the last 6 +  years and it will be going ahead but will still most likely be another 2 years before they even break ground and will be done in stages anyways.
