GST evaluation
« on: July 02, 2014, 11:54:24 am »
I'm importing a car that I purchased for about $3000 15 years ago.  Over that time my farther and I have restored it to pristine condition.

I've been told that I will have to pay an evaluator $300 when the car arrives in NSW and he will estimate its current value and I will have to pay GST on that.  It shits me that I will be charged GST for work that I've completed myself on a car I've owned for years and don't intend to sell.

How do I get around this issue?

I doubt you will have to. It's your car that you've own for over 12 months while living in the US.

You need a broker that knows their job. Email me if you'd like it handled appropriately.
