Wanted - 1967 Mustang Coupe - For Restoration
« on: February 21, 2014, 08:58:05 am »
Hi Guys, We are looking for a 67 coupe on behalf of a client

Must be factory V8, auto, preferably power steering. Mechanical condition not important as drive train will be fully reconditioned.

Body condition must be reasonable with absolutely minimal rust. Paint condition does not matter.

The car will receive a full restoration by ourselves, so our most important criteria is a ( mostly ) rust free body.

As the car will be completely restored, price must be as low as possible ie - it is not cheap to restore a Mustang.

If anybody knows of such a car please contact Jeremy on 0412075064 or send me a PM

Bump.....

Still searching for a mostly rust free 67 Coupe.

Been searching in the USA as well as Australia. Just missed one in Arizona a couple of days ago. Bugger!

Anything half reasonable in the USA is going for around 8k upwards. Add 5k with Fees to get it here and you might as well pay 13-15k for a car already here. When you are not looking for one seems they are plentiful.

There is one advertised on ebay right now for 17.8k. Put in an offer on the car but seller not willing to drop to our price - you can only try!

So does anybody have a 67 Coupe for under 15k - without rust?  Anywhere in Australia. ( Must be C code or A code.)

Hi Malscar, Yes... this is the one -

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/gympie/cars-vans-utes/1967-v8-ford-mustang-coupe/1041611120

Will give Jeremy the info to chase it up.

Thanks.

Hi Pinto Pete, Our buyer is very specific - Must be a 67 coupe. He has wanted a 67 since childhood and now that he can afford it nothing else will do.

Thanks anyway.

Have spent the night scouring craigslist - all 50 States. Just a few years ago Mustangs were a dime a dozen in the USA. Not anymore. It is slim pickings unless you want to pay high prices. Found about half a dozen possibilities, but as I have found out over the last couple of weeks - anything half reasonable around 8k gets snapped up very quickly. Also due to scammers they are now quite suspicious about overseas enquiries. Makes it hard.

Might be easier for Jeremy to shoot over there and try to buy a couple of cars.

Hi Glenn, I totally agree with you. :thumb:

Good news! Brad and Fiona hooked up the car trailer then drove to Melbourne in order to check out the ebay car. After a thorough inspection he gave the thumbs up and negotiated a good price. :thumb: :smile01:

Right now they are halfway back to Adelaide with the car in tow. Due back early this arvo, so I will have the camera ready and put up some photos.

Hi Johnno, I agree with you - 67`s are cool!

I guess at some stage we should ring Heath to let him know he is now the proud owner of his boyhood dream car. :smile01:

Heath, If you are viewing this Thread - Here is your 67 Coupe - Brad and Fiona have just arrived back at work -

Has the turn Signal Hood -

Engine sounds good -

No rust issues with the car. Trunk dropoffs are solid -

In the above photo you can see where it has had a lower section replaced in the rear quarter panel.

It is a California car. Vin starts with 7R01C. Happy with that. Door Data Tag is still in place - although covered in paint -

Was a well optioned car with power steering and integrated Air conditioning -

Seat upholstery is not very old at all -

Couple of general shots -

It sits very low in the rear, bloody lowering blocks!

The car has been in Melbourne since 2000 and owned by the same person for the 14 years since.

We are happy campers. We consider it an excellent base for the Restoration it is about to receive. Watch the " Time for an Update " Thread after Easter for the full story of the Restoration.

Mark, Sally, Nicco, Yes... I will keep the Update Thread regularly Updated with progress.

Sally, we have had the busiest ever start to the year on all fronts and so there has been no time to do any polishing. Things will settle down for us in a couple of weeks time, then it will be back into polishing and taking photos in the car factory. Hope to catch up soon.

Mert, the dash cluster looks like a recent addition to the 67. I would not know the difference between a 67 and 68 dash. I thought the vents on both sides are for the integrated air cond.
The compressor, bracket and condenser have all been removed from the car, but the lines and box are still there. Buyer wants the brushed aluminium look for the dash.

Can you confirm if these (below) are Air Conditioning Controls as opposed to just Heater/Vent controls? EDIT - Quick Google search confirms they are Air Conditioning Controls -

Rocket,
The '68 Dash has long, pointed blinker lights and the Hi Beam light is in the shape of a running horse.

The LH vent and control is a correct '67 AC version.  Standard interior.  If he wants the deluxe interior it will need to be changed to the brushed aluminum insert type.  (all dash pieces need to be swapped out)

The RH with the woodgrain could be a '68.  If you are looking for a correct '67 I may have one and would be willing to swap...

Mert, That is mighty kind of you. Thanks. I will look at the vent closely through the week to find out what condition it is in.

Brad took the following photo showing the dash of the 67 coupe we have just finished restoring. The difference between the 67 and 68 dash are immediately apparent -
