power steering
« on: February 05, 2014, 10:04:01 am »
Hi power steering stoped working  in my 2007 gt500
Has anyone had any trouble with power steering pump failing
The steering went hard and non responsive if you turned the wheel an let it go the car would keep tracking in that direction with no self centering
I was told by my conversion company it would be the power steering pump which surprised me as the car had only travled 25000km so ordered a remanufactured pump from the states had it fitted yesterday and only lasted two mins into the test drive before failing and resulting in the system becoming filled with brass filings there was no sign of this before

Dont want to name coversion company yet but will say it was done in Qld, using ford steering rack in the original mounting holes in cross member not a dodgey conversion

Any help or comment would be great thanks

Sounds like it's an engineering issue, almost like the p/s pump is over driving the steering rack - that the r&p geometry is wrong.
